Rust appeared in the garden at the end of 2002. He was all fur and bone and he managed a squeek like a rusty gate-hinge; hence his name. He was white mostly, with a ginger back, tail and head, and looked like he'd been out in the rain too long and got rusty.

2002

Aged about 10 years

After an unsuccessful attempt to trace his previous owner, health was the first priority with Rust. He experienced great difficulty with eating and drinking, as taking sips or nibbles resulted in him running from his bowls. He had a serious mouth infection and several bad teeth.

When his health issues were sorted, Rust's new priority became filling his skin. It didn't take very long, as the photos demonstrate.
